„District transformation“ Workshop

Wissensstiftung on tour!

Together with the participants of our ‘district transformation’ workshop, we visited the new HORTUS office building, which is being developed by SENN, Herzog & de Meuron and ZPF Ingenieure on the BaseLink site in Allschwil near Basel. This building is expected to be energy-positive after around 30 years and consists mainly of materials such as wood, clay and recycled paper.

The tour continued to the Vitra Design Campus. After exciting keynote speeches by Christine von Raven from Transsolar and Stefan Behnisch from Behnisch Architekten, small groups held lively discussions on solution concepts for sustainable district transformation based on the Klybeckplus project in Basel, which was presented by Florian Schrenk and Haris Piplas from Drees & Sommer. The focus here was on social aspects, energy potential and biodiversity.

Finally, we visited the current exhibition at the Vitra Design Museum ‘Transform! Design and the Future of Energy’.
